IT&Telecom companies' package of measures
- constructive proposals to tackle the coronavirus crisis and prepare Sweden for the future
If it were not for our world-leading tech sector, the relatively high level of digital maturity among the country's citizens, and the fact that Sweden has, after all, come a long way in its digital transformation, we would be even weaker in this crisis we are now experiencing. In other words, it is important that the IT and telecom industry can tackle the current crisis in a good way, not only for its own sake but also for other parts of the business community, for the public sector and for society at large.
But even though we are now experiencing one of the fastest digital transitions ever, and parts of our industry are running at full speed, many companies in the sector are suffering greatly. With a sharp drop in demand, redundancies and bankruptcies are now unfortunately on the horizon, unless something is done.
IT&Telecom companies have developed a desired political action plan - in the short, medium and long term IT&Telecom companies' action package - April-2020 - to enable the industry to maintain its increasingly important role as a carrier of society and as an engine for the Swedish economy. In the impending recession that is now on the doorstep, growth-promoting investments are needed that can kick-start the Swedish economy. Here, the digital sector will play a key role as an enabler, but this requires the right conditions and that the right political decisions are made.
In crises, something new is born. Support digital and creative entrepreneurship in the IT and telecoms sector - and in doing so, support solutions to the challenges of today and the jobs of tomorrow.
