"Find a partner who thinks circular"
- We are a little different in that we have a lot of specialists in what we call sustainability in the company. In our team, the vast majority, I would say 400-500 employees, are specialists in upgrading and repairing technology - mobiles, tablets and computers etc.
Stefan Nilsson wants to see a change in attitude from both business and the public sector when purchasing IT products. The carbon footprint can be significantly reduced by investing in products that last longer, up to nine years instead of two or three, and can also be reused.
- You need to move from a linear approach to finding the cheapest price for a recurring purchase to finding a partner who thinks in a circular way.
Fortunately, things are moving in the right direction, says Stefan Nilsson, especially among users and consumers. "It's trendier to think sustainably than to have the latest phone.
- The challenges and barriers have built themselves away through technological developments but also behaviors.
Stefan Nilsson also sees positive legislative trends at EU level moving in the right direction for increased circularity and longer product life.
- It is crucial that the EU puts pressure on producers and manufacturers to make it possible to repair products. There are also requirements for updating operating systems and apps, for example, can you have BankID on an eight-year-old mobile phone? It's not just the phone that needs to work, but also the software.
