Summary meeting of the Cash Council

The Cash, Payment and E-commerce Systems Council held a digital meeting on 19 May. As no meetings have been held since the autumn of 2020 due to COVID-19, a summary of what has happened was provided.

  • Response to reply to public consultation on standard export from the EHR
  • Response to reply to public consultation on market surveillance authority
  • Start of work on modernized cash register notification procedure
  • Meeting with the Payment Inquiry (led by Anna Kinberg Batra) where the Council pointed out the impact of the cash register regulation on the payment market.

The Council will pursue and monitor the following issues:

  • Questioning the patent application on "Dynamic Pricing" as it is considered as something already used in trade.
  • Support for Statistics Sweden to extract data from cash registers to produce price information for statistical use.

Finally, the Swedish Tax Agency will be contacted to coordinate work on a renewed cash register regulation, which has become urgent as e-commerce has grown so rapidly. E-commerce is not currently covered by the Cash Register Act.
