Hello CEO: Mats Blomdahl, Bmore IT
How would you sum up the past year, which was largely marked by the coronavirus pandemic?
- I think most companies experienced great uncertainty when the pandemic was a fact - Bmore was no exception where we initially implemented a short period of layoffs. Soon we realized that all our customers needed more IT products than we imagined and we needed to get all staff back to work, then it also became for us teleworking for those who wanted and could work remotely.
- As a technology company, we had already digitized all our processes, so there were no technical difficulties with working from home. Continued morning meetings via Teams became routine and a loyal group chose to continue working from the office instead of working from home. If I were to try to summarize, it lands in a period of anxiety about the virus and a more managing period for the company.
What lessons have you learned and what will you take away?
- Not having all staff present and not meeting customers and suppliers has made it difficult to create the dynamism and joy that the workplace normally offers - it's simply not as fun and inspiring as when the office is buzzing with activity.
- It is also difficult to understand how all employees are doing and when we discuss the future and development with employees, it is more difficult when you are in a pandemic - with the uncertainty that this entails. But we know that our business works thanks to good systems and processes so now we are more efficient than we were before the pandemic - it is perfectly possible to perform certain tasks from home and there are cost savings for both employees and companies. However, it doesn't always suit all individuals and a bit of management is needed to keep everyone happy.
Looking ahead, how do you see the immediate future?
- We are likely to have a more normal existence after the summer with increased business opportunities. We are preparing ourselves in terms of personnel and, to begin with, we will structure how we want teleworking to work in the future.
- Our goal is to bring back a more active office where it should be fun to stay - with employees who thrive and create job satisfaction. It has been a bit desolate at times so we look forward to meeting more employees - IRL
