Digital technology reduces global emissions

According to the World Economic Forum Foundation and their Exponential Climate Action Roadmap, a roadmap for climate action, digital technologies can already help reduce global carbon emissions by up to 15% - or one third of the 50% reduction needed to meet the 2030 climate targets.

This is made possible by solutions in areas such as energy, manufacturing, agriculture and transport and is more than the current carbon footprint of the EU and the US combined.

The fourth industrial revolution, notably 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), can significantly accelerate the pace of change in the digital sector.
