For a world-leading tech sector in Sweden

We are taking stock of a period in which we went from crisis, a pandemic that affected both people and businesses, to war when Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24. This war is first and foremost a great tragedy that has and will cause great human suffering, but it has also created an extremely serious security situation that risks having far-reaching consequences. We know that Ukraine's importance as an exporter of IT services has grown significantly in recent years and that several Swedish companies in our industry have extensive operations in the country.

Together with the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise and Almega, we at TechSverige have worked hard to get an overview of the situation and what consequences this will have for the business community as a whole, for different industries and for individual member companies. We as organizations have been united in our condemnation of Russia's actions and continue to work to support and support our member companies.

When Covid-19 made a big impact on our lives, digitalization was a great enabler. As our industry stood strong during the crisis and was always ready to help all parts of society, we really made a big difference. What we all delivered together made me both proud and humbled to represent the tech industry.

TechSverige has, among other things, worked to ensure that the industry and all member companies really get their rightful place as a central and important contributor to society. In May 2021, we presented a new report showing that the tech industry has established itself as a new base for the Swedish economy. Tech is Sweden's new basic industry. Our industry is broad and so much larger than what we have traditionally referred to as IT and telecom. Therefore, it feels very good that in October we changed our name from IT&Telekomföretagen to TechSverige. Our new name better reflects all of our more than 1,400 member companies, and we believe that the name change has gone down very well. We are noticing an increased interest in us and our industry from existing and new member companies, media, politicians, partners and talents. TechSverige is and will be the tech sector's obvious trade organization and the industry's common strong voice with great influence.

At the end of the year, we said goodbye to our outgoing Chairman of the Board, Pär Fors, for his many years of very successful work. At the same time, we welcomed his replacement, Per Wallentin, who has already shown that he will be a strong positive force in our work for increased member benefit. After a very special and trying year, it is really appropriate to thank our driven board, which has supported TechSverige's development and employees in the best possible way. Several important recruitments have further strengthened TechSverige's overall ability and with increased forces we continue to push for a world-leading tech sector in Sweden. Of course, we are focusing on the fact that 2022 is an election year and will thus intensify our efforts to work with politicians and parties and do everything we can to ensure that the tech industry and digitization get the place in the debate that it deserves.

Of course, I would also like to extend a warm thank you to all our member companies! We are driven by making a difference for you and your commitment to our common issues gives us extra energy and motivation. Last but not least, I would like to thank the fantastic team we have at TechSverige. It is a pleasure and an honor to work with such competent, driven and fun colleagues.

Together for a world-leading tech sector in Sweden!
