March 2022

On March 1 My Bergdahl, Economic Policy Expert, comments on the government's decision to amend Sweden's recovery plan under the EU Recovery Facility.

On March 7, a group of representatives from member companies gathered to discuss the impact of war on information security.

- For companies in the tech industry, there will be a continued need to exchange experiences on security issues in the wake of the war in Ukraine - even if it is the physical consequences of the war that affect most and cause great suffering. TechSverige will continue to follow developments in cybersecurity and be in contact with its member companies," comments Fredrik Sand, TechSverige's industrial policy expert, after the meeting.

On 8 March, My Bergdahl comments that Digital Europe, together with TechSverige, as one of 35 European trade associations, wrote an open letter on the importance of the EU investing in information and cyber security. The letter also contains a clear call for ministers to support Ukraine and help ensure that people in Ukraine - and on the move - are able to stay in touch with their families and loved ones.

On International Women's Day , March 8, TechSverige released a podcast episode where we discuss the state of gender equality in the industry with the help of the Nyckeltalsinstitutets CEO Tina Ekström.

On the same day, March 8, a CEO special will be released in which Visma Enterprises' CEO Sofia Gerstenfeld, who is also a member of the board of TechSverige, answers questions on the theme of gender equality. Kjell Morten Johnsen, Tele2, is also interviewed in connection with International Women's Day.

On March 16, My Bergdahl commented on our response to the referral A derogation from the localization principle for municipal broadband deployment (I 2021:A) regarding a new government proposal to allow municipal housing companies to sell services to citizens outside the municipal boundary.
- Most people agree that municipal city networks can be important for the expansion of fiber and the leasing of "dark fiber" within the municipality's boundaries. But the idea that municipal companies can sell broadband to consumers - even in another municipality - seems more far-fetched, writes My.

On March 22, Fredrik Sand comments on TechSweden's response to the referral Säker och kostnadseffektiv it-drift - förslag till varaktiga former för samordnad statlig it-drift (SOU 2021:97).
- If the opportunities of digitization are to be fully utilized, the market must be allowed to meet the authorities without intermediaries, Fredrik writes.

On 22 March, TechSverige together with IDG organized Tech Awards Sweden at Sergel Hub in Stockholm. Around 350 people were there to celebrate the winners of the first edition of the Tech Awards gala.

On March 24, a special episode of the Vitecherupp podcast will be published . The episode was recorded during the Tech Awards 2022 and featured the three jury members Anna Eriksson, Director General of DIGG, Tre Sverige's CEO Haval van Drumpt and author and lecturer Per Schlingmann who talked about the state of the industry.

On March 28, Fredrik Sand comments on the news that the EU and the US have reached a preliminary agreement to facilitate data transfers between the EU and US companies, the Trans-Atlantic Data Privacy Framework.
- The issue is of concern to both sides. According to the Commission, data transfers generate €900 billion in cross-border trade, boost digital competitiveness and foster economic cooperation. So let's hope for a third time lucky for the attempts to regulate data traffic across the Atlantic," writes Fredrik.

On March 28, Johan Torstensson, Tietoevry is interviewed in our series Hello CEO, now focus on the war in Ukraine and the consequences for our member companies.

On March 29, Ana Andric comments on this year's results of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise's recruitment survey, which provides a picture of member companies' skills needs and recruitment patterns. The results show that there are plenty of jobs, but that we face major challenges when it comes to finding the skills to do the job. This is particularly true in the tech sector, where the demand for skills and labour has escalated with the increasing impact of digitalization.
- The skills shortage that prevents tech companies from growing is therefore not just the challenge of the tech sector - but of society as a whole, as it risks slowing down societal growth," Ana writes in her commentary.

On March 31, Khashayar Farmanbar participates in the Vitecherupp podcast in a conversation with Åsa Zetterberg who asks, among other things.
- Are digitalization issues getting the place they deserve in the minister's portfolio and what does he see as the biggest social benefits of digital development? What are the most important election issues and how can we create even greater commitment to tech and digitalization policy?
