One in five service companies exposed to cyber attacks

A new report shows that several companies are exposed to cyber attacks every day. In a debate article on altinget.se, industry policy experts from TechSverige, Almega and Säkerhetsföretagen write that efforts to increase cyber security need to be accelerated.

"More than 90% of the service companies surveyed do not cooperate with authorities on cybersecurity at all. There is a great deal of uncertainty about which authorities they can even cooperate with or get support from." The authors of the article call for close collaboration between the government, public actors and businesses to prevent, detect and respond to cyber attacks, which is also the mission of the National Cyber Security Center.

The report, which Almega has commissioned from the security consultancy 4C Strategies, shows that one fifth of service companies have been exposed to cyber attacks in the past three years. Moreover, the majority of attacks are targeted and sophisticated. The real picture is likely to be even darker - there is a constant "noise" of constant attempted attacks.
