"Businesses should be able to continue hiring"
- We have lived in a time of low interest rates and now that they are rising, there will be different cost pressures. So it is important that the system we have created is evaluated. Was it good for companies and for employees? I think we will end up with the issue of wage formation, how are we going to crack it? We want companies to be able to continue hiring and not be eliminated," says Einar Humlin, pictured left.
Martin Wästfelt sees recruitment as the biggest challenge for Unionen in the coming years:
- We have set a target of 50,000 shop stewards within four years, which is almost twice as many as we have today. We have grown in membership, but it is not the easiest thing to find those who dare and have the energy to work as elected representatives in the workplaces. This is a key factor for our Swedish model, which works best when you have a club or representative who knows the company and can solve issues locally.
