"The question is more important than the measurement"
The new episode of TechSweden's podcast is hosted by Professor Bino Catasús, who is one of the co-founders of the Nyckeltalsinstitutet. In the podcast, he talks about, among other things, how the Gender Equality Index, Jämix, came about.
- I'm an economist and one of the worst things that an economist knows is the waste of resources, whatever those resources are. And when it comes to human resources and skills, it's a serious issue from a business management perspective," says Bino Catasús, explaining further:
- It was an instant success. Jämix is good because it puts facts on the table. The measures are not there to provide the answers but to ask smarter questions.
What is your advice to an HR manager or other person in the industry who is about to start using Jämix and KPIs?
- Don't be so concerned about the technicalities behind the measurements. Rather, trust that we have done the math and gone through pretty much every question that there has been. So take the numbers and find areas where you are completely different from others, whether your numbers are better or worse, and have a group meeting and ask each other what you can learn from it and how to move forward," Bino Catasús adds:
- You have to work in a team. There is no HR manager who can do it alone.
Bino Catasús, co-founder, Nyckeltalsinstitutet"Jämix was sort of an answer to the question of how to find a way to talk about gender equality in a way that is systematic but can also make it comparable. For us, the issue is more important than the measurement but by creating an index we were able to mobilize some power behind it."
