IT skills needs well attended - donate to Datatjej!
On Friday morning, 12/10, there was a sharp presentation of IT-talang 2012, which is a two-way survey on the supply and demand of IT skills. 250 of the IT&Telecom companies' member companies have answered questions about their need for skills, and just over 2000 IT students have been asked corresponding questions about what interests them and what skills they have to offer. The match between the interests of the two groups is good, but could be better! However, the overall problem is that the number of IT students graduating is too low, and in particular the number of girls is far too low.
Gabriella Ekström, HR Manager at consulting firm Sogeti Sweden, was invited to give her perspective on the surveys. She confirmed the picture painted by the reports, and took the opportunity to highlight testing, requirements and project management as increasingly important skills that are highly suitable for women.
Behind the IT talent reports is the recruitment and research company Skill, which was represented at the seminar by CEO Lena Miranda and project manager Viktoria Lundin. The reports are available for purchase at www.it-talang.se - don't hesitate to buy, the proceeds will go in full to the Datatjej network, which aims to boost the girls who choose IT engineering programs.
