Ängdala Skolor in Vellinge municipality receives the 2013 Surfa Lugnt award for Ängdala Online
After a voting phase and jury selection, Ängdala Skolor's project Ängdala Online has been named Sweden's best online initiative for young people and adults to meet around the internet. The Surfa Lugnt prize of SEK 25 000 is awarded today in conjunction with Safer Internet Day in many parts of Europe.
Ängdala Schools has an action plan - Ängdala Online - which aims to increase pupils' and adults' knowledge of the internet and which is adapted to the pupils' year groups. The project invites discussions about integrity, setting boundaries, sexuality and relationships via the internet, as well as etiquette, which includes work against online abuse.
The school staff have training days with different themes and issues around the internet, for example "Young people's everyday internet life" and "Social media in education" and both the school counselor and librarian are available on Facebook and other social meeting places. Every year, a parents' meeting is organized within Ängdala Online where young people and the internet are discussed to educate and support parents in their understanding and thinking about their children's lives on the internet.
