IT&T telecom companies have high recruitment needs
The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise's recent recruitment survey shows that IT & Telecommunications companies have tried to recruit employees to a much greater extent than other member companies of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. As many as 76% responded that they have tried to recruit in the last six months, and among companies with more than 50 employees the figure is as high as 99%. For IT & Telecom companies as a whole, this means a decrease from the 2012 survey, when as many as 85% of companies responded that they had tried to recruit.
Companies were less successful than desired in recruiting. The survey does not answer the question of whether these are new or replacement recruitments, but it is clear that the companies consider themselves to have a great need for employees. The recruitment survey asked whether companies had found it very or fairly difficult to recruit any of the educational levels they were looking for. A full 58% of companies felt this way.
IT & Telecoms companies are, unsurprisingly, a sector with a very high level of knowledge. A full 80% of companies wanted to recruit employees with a college or university education. This is a clear shift compared to the 2012 survey. At that time, 46% of companies said they had educational requirements that were lower than post-secondary education. Today, that figure has dropped to 34%.
So how do companies get hold of their employees? The overwhelming answer is through informal contacts/networks. A full 94% of companies have used this method. 68% of companies say they recruit through spontaneous applications, and 66% through social media.
