Microsoft is one of three host companies of Womentor 2015: setting tough targets to achieve gender equality in IT and telecom
Microsoft has participated in Womentor for 9 years - showing the way forward with clear and hard targets to achieve gender equality. The proportion of women in leading positions in the IT and telecom industry is 28%. At Microsoft, the corresponding figure is 42% and in Microsoft's Swedish management team, 4 out of 11 are women - a figure that varies from year to year as the company is in the midst of a journey of change.
Microsoft Sweden has a long-term goal of achieving 50 percent female managers and employees across all business areas.
- At Microsoft, we have long-term and rigorous goals for gender balance in leadership positions - because we believe it makes us more competitive. Gender equality and diversity create a corporate culture that fosters innovation and drives our business goals. We know that the IT and telecom industry has a challenge in this area and therefore we are constantly working to create change, says Jonas Persson, CEO Microsoft Sweden.
- Being part of Womentor is a natural step for us as a company, as together with other companies we can show the way forward towards an equal IT and telecom industry.
