AI: Sweden is falling behind
Despite the fact that no new technology is more crucial to our competitiveness than AI, Sweden is lagging far behind. IT&Telecom's Åsa Zetterberg is interviewed in Affärsvärlden about the Wallenberg Foundations' national initiative WASP.
- "We have lacked a solid, multi-year program with associated funding that promotes priority initiatives, coordinates different actors and accelerates development. The Wallenberg Foundations' commitment to basic research and competence is remarkably ambitious from both a national and an international perspective," says Zetterberg.
- Without this initiative, Sweden would have been even further behind and had an even poorer AI profile. What we should remember is that Wasp is aimed at basic research and competence building.
- But if Sweden is to become the best in the world at applying AI, it means that other initiatives must be made in parallel for AI to be used and create benefits. Sweden has fantastic opportunities here, and strong initiatives are needed.
