Grandma inspired "Our Digital World"

It was during a conversation with her 82-year-old grandmother that Sam Bingmark, 19, realized she needed help understanding her new tablet. That's when she came up with the idea of 'Our digital world - an instruction book for the not-so-digital generation', which shows step-by-step how to use your mobile, tablet or social media.

Today, Sam is the winner of the "Product of the Year" award presented in connection with the 2020 Swedish Championship for Young Entrepreneurship and proud CEO of the company Our digital world.

- Without my grandmother, I wouldn't have figured out what my JA company would focus on. I wanted to do something that helped others and it is clear that there are too many in the older generation who have not had the opportunity to learn how IT and technology can help them in everyday life. I realized that I didn't have the time to help everyone who needed help, so I came up with the idea of writing a simple instruction manual," says Sam Bingmark.

Grandma Birgitta was an important part of the development of the company and as a test pilot, Sam gained many valuable insights from her.

- I thought about how to get in touch with the target group. It was a bit tough at first because I was both inexperienced and a bit shy. But after some great meetings with the pensioners' organizations PRO and SPF, I dared to believe more in myself as a person and as an entrepreneur and now I have sold over 1000 books," says Sam.

Today, Sam has graduated from Tälje Upper Secondary School and has decided to focus on developing the company. The idea is that the company will continue to sell the book but also offer concrete workshops where participants can learn how to use the technology in the best way. Sam is primarily aimed at older people, but anyone who wants to learn more is welcome.

Sam now wants to develop the company by, among other things, recruiting teachers to help run workshops.

- I see that there are so many people we can help, but we need more people, so right now I'm looking for new colleagues. We will go far, in our digital world and it feels incredibly fun that I have been given this chance," says Sam.
