Dell - New training opportunities and plastic collection

Developing new opportunities for training

Today, Dell Technologies is working to help communities where electricity is not a given. In several locations in Africa and South America, Dell has created Solar Learning Labs - a kind of solar-powered learning center. The classrooms are built from converted shipping containers, with ventilation and natural light. These classrooms are equipped with Dell Wyse stations powered by solar panels mounted on the roofs. Today, Dell has 18 learning centers, and to date, 10,000 new students have gained access to modern technology.

Actively promoting gender equality

Dell is actively working to create an equal and inclusive workplace, where employees feel valued, engaged and inspired. Dell has several leadership programs specifically designed to ensure that work is moving in the right direction - such as Leading Women @ Dell, which targets senior employees with high ambitions, and Managing Success Now, which aims to give those at an advanced stage of their careers new tools to develop and further advance their goals.

Responsible production and consumption

Sustainability is more than just making environmentally friendly products - it's about making sustainability a cornerstone of everything we do, from production to transportation and recycling when no longer needed. To date, Dell has recycled more than 45 million kilograms of materials from its own products into 125 different products, including monitors, servers and computers. Dell recycles everything from plastics and metals to specific items such as magnets from hard drives to gold from motherboards.

Plastics in the oceans - How we turn the tide

Every year, 8 million tons of plastic end up in our oceans. According to some, there will be more plastic in the oceans than there are fish by 2050. Dell Technologies is actively working to reverse this trend, including by creating processes to collect plastics on their way into our oceans and use them for packaging. Since 2017, Dell has recycled more than 27 tons of plastic in this way. Dell has also launched the cross-industry Next Wave initiative, which brings together some of the world's largest companies in this effort.
