New report: Increased digital confidence and interest among women
This year's results show that Swedes' digital self-confidence has increased during the pandemic. This creates the right conditions for realizing a shift towards a more digitalized Sweden. By taking advantage of Swedes' newfound self-confidence, we can create incentives for the jobs of the future. The report points out that stimulus is needed from the government and IT&Telecom companies' proposal for Tech-checks, - an individual-based support for digital skills development for everyone of working age, is highlighted as an important initiative that can make a big difference.
- In order to kick-start change and attract more people to education, incentives are needed for individuals. We at IT&Telecom companies want to see a combination of a tech-check and skills deduction for employers," says Åsa Zetterberg, Director of IT&Telecom companies who contributes to the report.
The report also shows an increasing interest in IT jobs among women. Although interest is still higher among men, if this trend continues, women could overtake men as early as 2024.
-It is also incredible that women are now more interested in IT and digitalization. Unfortunately, we are still struggling with a distorted image of tech-related professions. It's not just about programming, there is a huge variety of roles ranging from business development and project management to health and commerce. Attracting women to IT professions is about role models, attractive assignments and contexts where you can use your full potential," continues Åsa Zetterberg.
-"We are sowing the seeds for big problems in the future if we do not keep Sweden at the digital forefront. Now is the time to prepare Sweden for the future," concludes Åsa Zetterberg.
