Sentor - Digital security for the most vulnerable

Digital security for the most vulnerable

Digital Kvinnofrid is a non-profit project run by the cybersecurity company Sentor and Uppsala Kvinnojour. The project began in the fall of 2018, and was born out of a desire to combat the extensive threat that modern technology poses to women's shelters and the women, girls and children they meet in their activities.

Sweden previously lacked comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge about violence perpetrated through digital technologies, as well as concrete security measures that are both necessary and useful. Digital Women's Peace thus became the first initiative in Sweden to combine the fields of knowledge of men's violence against women and IT and information security, and was awarded the Forum's "Initiative of the Year" award in 2020.

Through Digital Women's Freedom's capacity-building initiatives, women's shelters and other organizations that meet victims of violence have the opportunity to improve their internal security, but also knowledge and tools that can be passed on to women and children seeking support. The goal going forward is to adapt and target our messages to younger target groups to a greater extent, where we see a great need for knowledge and an opportunity to work proactively.
