Tech industry employed 216,000 people in 2018
A report from IT&Telekomföretagen presented in May 2021 shows that the tech industry has established itself as a new base for the Swedish economy.
The tech sector is broad and goes beyond what we have traditionally called IT and telecoms. It also includes companies in areas such as computer games, health (healthtech), finance (fintech) and education (edtech).
The report also shows that the tech sector is a job-creating industry. More than 60% of the new jobs created in Sweden between 2006 and 2016 were in the IT-intensive sectors. In total, the sector employed around 216 000 people in 2018.
