Access to 4G in Swedish households

99.99% of all Swedish households had access to LTE (4G) in October 2020. This means that almost all households in Sweden have access to broadband via at least one access technology*.

In October 2020, there was also the possibility of fixed broadband via the 5G network, which is now available in some parts of the country, mainly in cities. 18% of all households in Sweden were able to connect to 5G in October 2020. In sparsely populated areas, access was 0.5%.

*The 4G coveragecorresponding to a handheld terminal used outdoors and free from body contact. It is further assumed that a directional antenna mounted outdoors with an unobstructed view of the transmitter is used when necessary. 4G networks typically provide a download speed of at least 10 Mbit/s. The availability of HSPA (3G) was also above 99.99% in 2020. However, this technology usually has lower download speeds than 4G.
