Three strong role models motivate talent

On Thursday 10 February, the 2021 Womentor year will come to an end. One of the companies that has been part of TechSverige's gender equality and change program since the start in 2006 is Tre Sverige. 

- We are proud of that. While it has been a fantastic development for mentees and mentors, it has been an opportunity for us as a company to be able to influence the industry and demonstrate that we want to be part of a change. Womentor really helps to create attention and is a strong force for both internal and external branding. It's important to be able to see that it's not just us who have this on the agenda, but that it's an important issue for the whole industry. When you see that companies have the same type of challenges, it becomes easier to open up and share their experiences," says Tre Sverige's HR Business Partner Julia Palm.

Over the past five years, Tre Sverige has increased the proportion of women in management positions from 30% to 43%.

- We at Tre have been gifted with strong female role models in all our business areas, not least in Tech, which is one of the factors that affect our positive development in the right direction and is a carrot and motivation for talents both inside and outside Tre to see the opportunity to develop, be challenged and climb with us.

By always keeping gender equality high on the agenda, the Tre can harness the power of innovation to take it to the next level.

- Our work has always been characterized by the fact that we work very closely with both managers and employees, where our strong corporate culture permeates everything we do. All employees are part of the puzzle for an equal and positive climate as gender equality is a current area in everything we do - everything from training forums to discussions on sustainability. What are we doing to become a more equal company? We are taking a long-term approach, but we recognize that nothing will change overnight if we do not work actively on the issue here and now. Combined with the right tools, processes and planning, we make sure that we have fun along the way and have clear goals to be able to follow up the work and see that there is a change, which in turn creates commitment," says Julia Palm.

Right now, Tre Sverige is working on a long-term strategy that extends to 2025 and is divided into different areas: gender distribution overall, among leaders and within each part of the organization. This is to create a balance also within different business areas and not just at the overall level.

- Working so closely with the business, we can monitor how the KPIs change over a quarter, for example, and use the data to adapt activities and planning for future periods, which may include activities such as customized training, events or networks. It has been very successful to dare to roll up our sleeves and question ourselves by producing data instead of adhering to an assumed truth. We are part of the solution based on the conditions and the data we have.
