Ana Andric, an industrial policy expert at TechSverige responsible for issues related to skills supply, gender equality and inclusion, talks about the Addera tech campaign.

Why is add tech an important campaign?

The tech sector is of great importance to the Swedish economy and prosperity. It is an industry that creates jobs and growth, combined with extensive trade with the rest of the world. But the sector's continued development is currently hampered by a major skills shortage, which means that many Swedish tech companies have to turn down business and assignments. This in turn has consequences for other important businesses and, in the long term, affects the country's entire economy. With the add tech campaign, we at TechSverige, together with our member companies, want to show the enormous opportunities of the industry, both for society but also for individuals who we know are out there. Companies in the tech industry, from north to south, can offer exciting jobs and career opportunities with great flexibility and good working conditions. What many people may not know is that you don't need a long technical education to work in tech. There are several ways to make a career in the industry. With this campaign, we want to highlight different paths to tech jobs by making it easy for individuals to take the step into the tech industry.

Who do you hope to reach with the campaign?

The target group for the campaign is people who are already in their professional life and are thinking about "rethinking...", want to change careers or update their skills. Preferably people with experience from other jobs and other industries. The tech industry can offer so many specializations and professional roles, and for the industry to deliver innovative smart solutions, a diversity of people working in the industry is needed. Women are also a particular target group for the campaign, as there is a significant shortage of women in the tech industry.

Start by taking our test on the campaign page where you can, based on your interests, get an idea of which tech jobs would suit you and examples of what skills development would be needed to get there. We have also gathered information on the different tech jobs as well as information on labor market prospects for different tech jobs.
