Hello CEO: Beda Grahn, Kyndryl Norden

Kyndryl is the world's largest IT infrastructure company, employing 90,000 people and counting banks, governments, manufacturers and retailers among its customers. Kyndryl Nordic CEO Beda Grahn says the company recently celebrated two years as an independent listed company.

- We have created a strong offering by combining our deep and long-standing knowledge in IT infrastructure with a new customer-centric consulting offering that helps customers and entire industries transform and modernize traditional IT infrastructure.

What are Kyndryl's current focus areas?

- Modernizing IT infrastructure is critical for the competitiveness of all types of organizations and for businesses to develop innovations quickly. "Investments in IT transformation will reach $653 billion globally by 2025, according to IDC," says Beda Grahn and continues:

- "Rapidly optimizing or moving our customers' IT environments to modern solutions both on premise and in the cloud without compromising IT security or increasing costs is our top priority and we are constantly investing to succeed. One example is Kyndryl Consult, a service for consulting, implementation and integration of business-critical IT operations services to help customers improve their business. 

How are you working to secure the need for tech skills?

- IT professionals who know both technology and business will continue to be in demand. That's why we're investing heavily in employee skills; in addition to technical skills development, employees have access to a global training platform for leadership and business development. Through partnerships with companies such as Google, Microsoft Azure and AWS, employees have access to training in the latest technologies.  

- For me as CEO, it is important to make sure that everyone feels included and I believe that different perspectives and experiences make us better as a company while being very flexible about where and when you want to work. 

Do you use AI in your work and if so, how?

- Of course we do. First, we help our customers structure and make critical data available in a way that can help them in their AI initiatives, and of course we have the technologies and approaches for this. We then work with the major cloud providers, Azure, AWS and Google Cloud, and help customers benefit from company and industry-specific AI solutions. We have also developed Kyndryl Bridge, AI technology for orchestrating our own and also our customers' services. This creates transparency and insights to better understand, predict and act to create better business outcomes. 

What is the best thing about working in tech?

- Tech is developing rapidly, which means that employees and candidates need to constantly develop their skills while everyone has the opportunity to find the roles and assignments that suit them best. I also think it's important that you get to help shape and develop society and have a lot of fun. I like that tech has the answer to many of today's major challenges: sustainability, climate and security.
