Karolina Löf: TechSverige is building the employer service of the future for IT, telecom and tech companies

TechSverige is growing and member services tailored to the needs of the sector as the industry and employer organization becomes independent from 1 January 2025. Karolina Löf, General Counsel oand responsible for employer policy at TechSweden, tells more about the offer that will mean increased member benefit with an employer service fully adapted to tech companies' conditions and challenges.

Can you tell us about the new employer service?
The employer service that we are now building, in close dialog with member companies, will include the best and sharpest expertise in labor law and the industry's collective agreements. The offer will be in place well before January 1, 2025 when TechSverige becomes independent. Member companies with collective agreements will continue to have free advice on employer issues and the service will be fully industry-specific. Collective agreements will continue to apply, so there is nothing that member companies need to do.

What will the offer look like?
As an independent organization, we will be able to offer a competent and flexible service. Members will continue to have access to personalized support and advice from our labour law experts and negotiators. We will have a hotline and a good regional presence. We will offer legal assistance in labor law disputes and specific expertise on issues of particular relevance to the sector, such as the Temporary Agency Work Act, telework, cross-border related issues, data protection and pay. In addition, we are developing our digital support, allowing our members to get quick help when they need it, around the clock.

We will also be a strong collective voice for the tech industry and represent our members' interests in important employer issues and influence so that collective agreements, laws and regulations are designed based on the industry's specific needs and challenges. I consider TechSverige's prospects for good and constructive cooperation with our trade union counterparts to increase the attractiveness of our collective agreements to be very good.

What will the organization look like?
We have a competent and committed team of labor lawyers and negotiators who today work with advice to TechSverige's member companies at Almega and who are involved in the development of our employer activities. They will continue to provide advice and support to the members even after TechSverige becomes independent. At the same time, we are growing and will recruit more. In total, we will be about 10 employees, around Sweden, who specialize in the tech industry's collective agreements and with expertise in labor law, collective agreements, negotiation, disputes, work environment and other issues that are particularly relevant to the industry, such as work permits, security clearance, cross-border, AI, etc.

TechSverige is developing a digital support with AI. How will it improve the employer service to member companies?
In order for our labor law experts to be able to do what they do best, namely to offer even more personalized advice and be there for you as a member company when you need it, we are developing a digital support using generative AI. Through the digital and easy-to-navigate employer support, you as a member will get quick and easy answers to the most common questions, around the clock. We will also have an internal legal AI support to streamline advice and increase the availability of our negotiators and lawyers.

As a member company, do I need to do anything to take advantage of the new employer service?
No, as a member it will be a seamless process and you do not need to do anything. Collective agreements are also not affected as it is TechSverige that signs the agreements with our trade union partners. We will inform you in good time before the end of the year about the new emergency number, contact persons and new website. If you have any questions or input for the work ahead, you are welcome to contact me.

TechSverige is growing - TechSverige is looking for negotiators/labor lawyers in the southern, western and northern regions
