People in tech: Fredrik Krekula, Sherpas Group

Sherpas is an IT company in Skellefteå that, in addition to helping companies and organizations with business and operational development, also develops its own software products. In our article series People in tech, Sherpas Development Manager Fredrik Krekula talks about long-term work with several of Sweden's and Scandinavia's largest and most interesting companies.

There is a skills shortage in the tech industry. How do you work to be an attractive employer?

- We are constantly working on our culture and try to be aware of and responsive to opinions, ideas, needs and wishes in order to attract and retain employees in a sustainable and inspiring way. We are looking for driven and committed people who enjoy teamwork and working with digitization of various kinds. An important part is to give great responsibility to all employees and we strive for as flat an organization as possible to achieve this.

How does Sherpas use AI at work?

- We use AI internally to streamline and improve our system development and coding and also to make it easier for employees to find the information they need, for example in our intranet or documents in our document library. Externally, we work with AI for those customers where we have identified that AI makes a difference and streamlines their business in some way, for example around cybersecurity, production efficiency, data management, financial follow-up, document management and more.
