Debate: Stop taking research for granted

TechSweden CEO Åsa Zetterberg, together with five other leading representatives from Swedish industry, writes on Dagens Industri's debate page. The article calls for measures to ensure continued growth for Swedish companies in Sweden. Foreign companies need conditions that motivate investment in Swedish R&D, research, and development.

The authors of the article urge the government to move forward with one of the proposals for a new tax incentive for R&D activities, so that the state takes on a greater share of the risk when companies test new technologies and new medicines.

Another of several recommendations is to introduce lower taxes on income from patents and other ideas developed in Sweden. This would make it more profitable to both develop and retain inventions and production in the country instead of moving them abroad.
