Adepter Womentor

Register your company for Womentor 2018 - now with the JÄMIX® gender equality index

Womentor is a year-long change and leadership program for companies in the IT and telecom industry that want to address the gender imbalance in the sector. The main aim is to increase the ability of the whole industry, and individual companies, to attract and retain the best talent, whether male or female.

The main focus is on increasing the proportion of women in management positions, on the basis that more women in management positions has a positive impact on the overall proportion of women in the company, and that progress in prominent companies in turn has a positive impact on the industry as a whole.

Womentor companies outperform industry average

When Womentor was first conducted, the overall share of women in the industry was 32%, a figure that dropped to 28% in 2016. At the level of managers and CEOs, the trend is positive, albeit at a low level: the proportion of female managers in the industry has risen from 26% to 30% in ten years.

The companies that have participated in Womentor have, on average, a much more positive development than the rest of the industry - companies that have participated every year since the start have increased the proportion of women in their companies from 25 to 34 percent.

JÄMIX® - even better tools for structured diversity work and benchmarking

Our evaluations of Womentor show that what companies want above all is even more concrete tools for working in a structured way with goal management and follow-up of gender equality and inclusion. This is also the main success factor for those who succeed in implementing change. Many also ask for benchmarking tools: to be able to compare themselves and their progress both with others in the industry and with the business community at large.

To meet these needs, the Gender Equality Index JÄMIX® is included in Womentor from 2018. By partnering with an experienced actor who has an established methodology for measuring, targeting and indexing gender equality and diversity work to the program, we hope to bring even more value to participating companies.

Since 2006, 347 mentees, the same number of mentors and 57 companies have participated in Womentor. Many of the companies return as participants every year. Womentor is a strategic initiative of IT&Telecom companies within Almega, and is practically run by Karin Ahlström at the team and leadership development company Ardida. Karin Ahlström is a civil engineer with extensive experience in business development and leadership, and a highly appreciated lecturer and inspirer.
