Share of female CEOs at record high

Interview with Anne-Marie Fransson, Director of IT&Telecom

Computer Sweden recently published an article highlighting new statistics from IT&Telekomföretagen on the proportion of women in the industry. There is a long way to go to achieve gender equality in the IT and telecom industry, while the proportion of female CEOs is record high. Association Director Anne-Marie Fransson is interviewed as well as Mia Åslander, CEO Gibon.

In the article, Anne-Mari Fransson gives her view of the situation:
- "The increase in the number of female CEOs in the IT and telecom industry is encouraging. A lot of positive initiatives are being taken in the industry with a focus on increased gender equality. For more than ten years, IT&Telekomföretagen has been working on the Womentor project, a change program to increase the number of female managers in IT and telecom. This has produced clear results, as participating companies in Womentor have a higher proportion of women as managers than the average company in the industry,' she says.

She also notes:
- 'In order to attract more women to IT jobs, it is important to continue to change the image of the IT and telecoms industry. This work needs to start early so that more young girls apply for technical training. The IT and telecom industry is multifaceted and offers several different career opportunities that make a difference to the development of society.
